Louisiana Delta Ballet is happy to announce its season for 2026-2027. We begin our 23nd season at Christmas, as we take you to "Christmas in Neverland"! . Join Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Hook and the Darling family, as they soar high throughout the Civic Center Theatre for a fun and adventurous journey to Neverland. This original theater production of the famous children’s story offers state-of-the-art sets and scenery, beautiful costumes, and excellent production value. With all of the classic elements (and some surprises!), this is a must see for all ages! And don’t forget to save the date – February 26, 2027 – for our annual fundraiser, “Dancing With the Louisiana Stars” which supports our season. We close our season as LDB hosts the Regional Dance America, Southwest Regional Festival in March. Festival 2027, "Danse Fleur de Lis", features so many talented dancers from across the Southwest Region. Public performances will held at the Monroe Civic Center Theatre on March 18. 19 and 20, 2027. Join LDB this season and let us share our passion with you!
Christmas in Neverland
Just like the original story of Peter Pan says, “This has all happened before, and it will all happen again”, our story also begins here. All of us grow up, but our youth is maintained in our hearts, and though we do actually grow up it is nice to think back to a time of innocence. One thing that people identify with innocence and Christmas is Santa Claus. Santa Claus is someone we cannot see, but yet most children believe in him because he represents goodness and the true spirit of giving at Christmas. It is our belief that the idea of having faith in someone or something we cannot see is a valuable learning tool in carrying on the faith and joy that Christmas represents.
Peter pan re-appears in the Darling home on Christmas Eve and questions why there is a Christmas tree, gifts, and cheerful decorations. When Wendy explains, he insists that Wendy come with him to Neverland and share Christmas with the lost boys. Of course, the mean old Captain Hook is in Neverland with sword in hand and the fights begin! But, in the end, Wendy, Peter, Tiger Lily, and Tinkerbell, triumph and Captain Hook learns the true meaning of Christmas…………………..the gift of love.
The scenes are just as one may expect, complete with the mermaid lagoon, a forest full of Christmas trees, and the lost boys treehouse. Little hearts will be thrilled to see Tinkerbell “flying” through the air, spreading her magic pixie dust! The adventurous minded students will love the choreographed sword fights as good conquers evil. Also highlighted will be “pirates” and the ticking “crocodile” creeping through the scenes………………………and perhaps the audience too.
This ballet has something for children of all ages. After all, we are all young at heart. At the end of the day, none of us ever really “grow up”, we just get older.
